Be mindful of your playing position

Please be mindful of your head position while playing! 

As you can see from these drawings, the more forward the neck, the greater the strain which can lead to many problems down the road.  If you have added weight on your body from your instrument that increases possible postural distortion.

Resulting issues might include pain, numbness in hands, headache, etc.  A lot of time spent typing at a computer or bending over an iPad can have the same effect - even without the extra weight of the instrument.

I know it is hard to include self care in our own daily activities - but in this next year try to be mindful of what your body is telling you. Pay attention to how we can help our bodies continue to do what we need to do every day. Take a few moments to breathe, stretch, and relax as often as you can.
