Idea Exchange coming up!

by David Birrow   Birrow.David@MacPhail.org

"Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal." - T.S. Eliot

There is an Idea Exchange that I'm looking forward to this week. It's on Tuesday, April 30th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in room 607 and will be an open forum. I'm excited to hear what other faculty are doing in their classrooms and studios, with the hope of hearing something new and exciting that I can rip off and use to improve my work life.

I thought it'd be neat if we all listed the topics and ideas we might bring down in the comments below. You can even check in if you don't have any ideas and are just looking forward to listening or maybe even post a request! So I'll start:

What I'd like to hear about: I'm about halfway through Philip Johnston's The Dynamic Studio in which he throws out myriad ways to change up your teaching pattern.  I'm hoping to hear some real life use cases and the success/failure stories.

What I might share:  I've been teaching a Digital Music Workshop class at Breck School and have learned a lot (mostly from students) about composition/notation/producing over the last semester. At the same time I was taking an online Music Production course from Berklee College of Music through Coursera. I could show the programs we've used in class and how they've influenced how I do things in all areas of my teaching.
