Two things today. First some interesting pentatonic stuff:
- Leonard Bernstein explaining the universality of the pentatonic scale in a way that only he could. Harvard Lecture
- Kind of a neat lesson resource for parents on teaching pentatonic to their kids. Also fun interactive xylophone
- Study: "Tonal synchrony in mother–infant interaction based on harmonic and pentatonic series"
I also thought it would be neat to try an open thread and see how many pentatonic songs we could come up with. These could be early childhood songs or pop tunes or tunes you notice in method books. I'll start it off:
- Alabama Gal, American Traditional tune
- Band of Angels, American Traditional tune
- Little Rondo, Traditional
List other pentatonic songs in the comments!
